Tunç Soyer

İzmir Büyükşehir Belediye Başkanı

Tunç Soyer, 1959 yılında Nurettin Soyer ile Güneş Soyer’in oğlu olarak Ankara’da doğdu. İlk ve orta öğrenimini İzmir’de tamamladıktan sonra Bornova Anadolu Lisesi’ni ve Ankara Üniversitesi Hukuk Fakültesi’ni bitirdi. Biri İsviçre’deki Webster Üniversitesi’nde “Uluslararası İlişkiler” diğeri Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi’nde “Avrupa Birliği” alanlarında olmak üzere iki yüksek lisans yaptı.

2003 yılında Avrupa Birliği’nden İzmir’e temin edilebilecek mali kaynaklar konusunda hazırladığı raporunu dönemin Büyükşehir Belediye Başkanı Ahmet Piriştina’ya sundu ve Piriştina’nın teklifini kabul ederek Büyükşehir Belediyesi başkan danışmanı olarak çalışmaya başladı. 2004-2006 yılları arasında İzmir Ticaret Odası’nda dış ilişkiler müdürlüğü ve genel sekreter yardımcılığı yaptı. 2006 yılında Dışişleri Bakanlığı tarafından EXPO 2015 İzmir Yönlendirme Kurulu ve Yürütme Komitesi Genel Sekreterliği görevi verildi. 2009 ve 2014 yılında Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi’nden Seferihisar Belediye Başkanı seçildi. 2019 Türkiye yerel seçimlerine CHP’nin İzmir Büyükşehir Belediyesi başkan adayı olarak katıldı ve %58 oyla başkan seçilerek 8 Nisan 2019’da göreve başladı. İngilizce ve Fransızca bilen Soyer, evli ve iki çocuk babasıdır.
